How do I write non queer characters. Like actually. I've been trying to make my main character as straight as possible (while admittedly leaving room for Sapphic Speculationā¢) and I just can't. Wdym she can't go on a 4 paragraph rant about how gorgeous the other female lead is and how trying to draw her would be sacrilege. What.
#queer#sapphic#the gays#writing#books#chaotic academia#its so difficult#idk how to feel#should she be gay or should she be ambiguous for my safety or should i give her a male love interest#i am not going to give her a male love interest nevermind that mental image is disgusting#that felt like prejudice#im not against the straights i swear- this lady just isnt one of them

zukka pride and prejudice pt 2
[ID: A comic of Sokka and Zuko from Avatar the Last Airbender acting out the hand scene from Pride and Prejudice (2005). In the first panel, Sokka stares to the right, his face illuminated with light, and his hair blows in the wind. He has a soft surprised expression.
The second panel is a closeup of Zuko and Sokkaās hands, as Zuko holds Sokkaās gloved hand to help him move. Warm light emanates from their touch. Zuko stares, slightly confused at his own feelings, and when he walks away, the panel shows a closeup of him flexing his hand. /End ID.]

Moment I'm obsessing over today:
This response when you ask Gale "What does our relationship mean to you?"
You must know, our relationship is the brightest spot in our otherwise bleak endeavour. To know you love me for the man I am, and not the magic I command... None have loved me so purely before. You are everything to me, and yet our relationship is only a nascent fraction of what it will become. You give me hope, and I've not had that in some time.
Breathtakingly romantic, a little heartbreaking, and full of warmth and hope. It gets me every single time
And his expressions!! From puppy eyes to that sweet smile to warm certainty... I love him so so so much š„ŗ
#gale dekarios#screenshots#diaglogue#the ''you must know'' always puts me in mind of that pride & prejudice scene. ''you must know. surly you must know'' y'all know the one#also the player character's face when he says ''none have loved me so purely before'' is perfect like yes that is *incredibly* sad#i don't even really have any extra commentary on this i was just playing the scene again and my heart felt like it was about to explode#so i had to come on here and scream about it a bit lol

one of my favorite things about pride and prejudice is that in the last third of the book Elizabethās internal monologue about Darcy is her admitting that sheās in love with him but also putting all sorts of qualifications around that statement that kind of ...tamp down the level of emotion (theĀ āfeelings, if not as tender as Janeās for Bingley, at least as justā line, even the whole thing about her and Darcy being well-matched objectively speaking) and as soon as sheās engaged you get the unbridled joy in the narrative about her own joy, cc: āI am happier even than Jane; she only smiles, I laugh.āĀ
#pride and prejudice#jane austen#this is very obvious but it's in the narration itself#that she's trying to sort of distance herself from the depths of her own feelings in case this DOESN'T work out#i also think the rational stuff is totally true and she would say that after as well but she would say it in a different way#idk i just love it. it's so subtle and it's so true#also very obvious?? i feel like i'm making a very obvious point#but anyway 'elizabeth's feelings soon rising to playfulness etc. etc.'#also this is why i hated the end of a civil contract actually#i felt like she was tamping it all down and for some reason it just made me SO mad#like no. it's supposed to OVERFLOW NOW#adam being like 'and in the end the rational choice was jenny' sir i will FIGHT YOU IN THE PARKING LOT#idk i was student teaching and very emotional at the time maybe i missed something and read it wrong#but my entire spirit REBELED#like. how honestly DARE#i'm avoiding grading can you tell#yes you can I will go now

Everyone in Chainsaw Man is trans. Except for Angel Devil, who got a character/gender customization screen before he started life on earth as a fiend and is therefore cis in the least binary way possible.
#(this Angel Devil Ability TM is a result of fear/prejudice felt by religious ppl of/against queer ppl)#*āreligious pplā in this case referring to followers of religions that incorporate angels into their doctrine/beliefs#Aki is repressed transfem because sheās repressed everything. gender isnāt even on her radar yet.#Denjiās gender incorporates Pochita. Theyāre separate and a whole. Theyāre a boy and his dog a dog and his boy.#Power is A Fiend. she demands all pronouns and is better than all of them.#Angel is Angel. he exists as himself.#Iām being silly again#(these are all my current personal fav interpretations but any and all trans hcs are so beautiful to me)#gender#trans#csm gender talk on the tl today hehe#I feel like most fiends/devils have pretty non (human) binary views of gender#babygirl Hellās got genders you canāt even imagine. theyāre shrimp colors to us.#csm#chainsaw man#my csm thoughts#meposting

It feels like...so many directors are scared of actually engaging with period dramas (or they're afraid of engaging with the budget of a well-done period drama). Like they're afraid that a modern audience can't relate to people who wear different clothing and use different vocabulary. So you get Teen Queen Period Dramas (which, don't get me wrong, I do like them) with modern pop music so that they can be Relatable or modern AUs that have next to nothing in common with the OG or whatever the fuck was going on with the Netflix Persuasion.
#and on the record: I CAN like these and think they're doing interesting things#IF they're making a genuine point#but a lot of the times it just feels like they think that a modern audience Can't relate#and that's...depressing#especially since like. The 1995 pride and prejudice was a cultural moment#I first watched Sense and Sensibility when I was a young child and I understood what was going on and STILL felt for the characters

mappa ruined gojoās past arc they should have kept the old animation style
#gojo looks pretty tho so i wonāt complain too much#the āthroughout heaven and earthā scene felt so rushed and lackluster#i feel like they ruined the intensity of the fight by adding weird angles and line delivery#trying to be pretty instead of showing toji get shredded by hollow purple#it felt like i was watching pride & prejudice instead of jjk LMAO

The last thing i expected to see in a pride and prejudice adaptation was mr Darcy playing pool! I was so shocked and confused when i saw that billiards table, it looked so modern, it broke the illusion for me, i honestly had no idea that billiards existed 200 years ago, let alone that they were invited in 14th century!! That's crazy!
#maybe everyone else knew how old billiards is but i was so shocked i felt crazy for a second#it felt like he might as well have been holding an iPhone instead lol#pride and prejudice#pride and predjudice 1995#billiards#š

if you're in a relationship/dating/married, do you listen to podcasts together? like at the same time, like you'd watch a movie or TV together?
#the podcast mines#i've never dated or whatever so idk if this is a thing people do with their partners#i've never done this with a close friend either#i listened to pride and prejudice be good and rewatch it and sawbones with family once but felt very like Aware the whole time?#like 'i need more verbal assurances that they are enjoying this and not just putting up with it for me'#so just felt kind of stressed the whole time

MANY scenes of Darcyās no one is ever talking about enough or in the right light.
#imo#the do you not care to dance a reel one is huge#but so is the scene when heās walking outside with Caroline and they run into Lizzy and Mrs. Hurst#and she (hurst) takes his disengaged arm#and it just says āDarcy immediately felt their rudenessā#and then suggests they go into the avenue#and Lizzy laughs it off#but like. the inherent politeness is in the room with us#pride and prejudice

Theyāre calling my baby Gojo, Joseph Joestar now
#rambling#the diff is that Gojo did apologize after being called out and face to face with his racism whilst Joseph literally befriended naziās šµāš«#and there was never any explanation from araki as to why heād even wrote German soldiers in the shit in the first place like that was#absolutely jarring as hell to read for the very first time back when Iād gotten into jjba#well I watched it first but you know#like Joseph really thought fondly of Stroheim as this stand up guy even though heās first of all#a Nazi#and second#the first scene that we were introduced to was of him sexually harassing a Woman#itāsā¦ā¦. šæ#still to this day I wonder if araki had ever addressed this because lord#Joseph was just happy to get the help I guess but that felt so ooc for him from what heād seen š£ļø#happily receiving the help of a Nazi and calling them a nice guy ahhh Joseph-#Gojo would never sjjsaj#my boo boo is a little prejudice but heās working on it š£ļø#I still think that gege was trying to have a āracism is badā moment but again#the execution was pretty awkward and it felt out of place considering what had been currently going down in the manga#like the Racism was pretty random but it was swiftly put to a stop which I can appreciate even if it shouldnāt have been a point of#conversation to begin with since why couldnāt Miguel just exist as a character instead of him being the now token negro#who everyone sees as instantly more frighteningly powerful than everyone else like this didnāt even need to be brought up wllssldk#idk gege was trying to be āwokeā š. sorry nbs and wp ruined the term for me but like basically lol#gojoās pretty intelligent and extremely gifted but heās never been perfect lol#itās just that idk why gege chose to talk about antiblackness in Japan out of nowhere about the only black character on screen hehhhhhh#like gege tried but lmfao#this is so funny to me#at least it didnāt drag on putting Miguel in an even more awkward situation than he already was and it was nipped in the bud quickly#Gojo isnāt one to dwell on things but when heās face with new information and is taught something he does try to reflect and do better and#Iām sure he probably started to become even more aware of what heās saying especially when talking to Miguel in an honest way since thatās#always been the kind of character who he was despite the horrors#the only ppl whoāve been kinda annoying about this are nbs and white people as always šæ

cressida-jayoungr replied to this post:
I never read it as Edmund *disowning* his actual sisters, rather feeling that they had deserted him/the family.
Not formally, but I mean ... he says they're not his sisters any more, whatever his motives for doing so.
With regard to his rationale, we don't really know what it isāit's an emotional outburst, not something he's necessarily thought through. He feels like Maria and Julia are no longer his sisters in a meaningful sense because they ran off with a couple of shitty men (and that Fanny is his sister, lol). But the fact that he feels that way is not solely on Maria and Julia. Edmund responds this way because of who he is as a person.
#even if say lydia had been older in pride and prejudice i don't think elizabeth or jane would ever have felt like writing her off this way#cressida jayoungr#respuestas#austen blogging#austen fanwank#edmund bertram critical#this is not an edmund bertram appreciation blog
